| Inexpressible Publications - Book Reviews of The Political Evaluator |
"Many people can list reasons why our current political system
is lacking especially in light of the upcoming [Canadian] election, however few offer an equal number of solutions in which to improve it. We must admit that just because things are done one way for a long time doesn't necessarily mean they are in our best interest. Who decided the act of voting was conducive to democracy anyway? Thinking outside of the preconceived notions of our current political framework or 'the box' rests the grounds for Stephen Garvey's latest publication The Political Evaluator. Derived from the lectures of visionary Peter Thompson, these controversial concepts of a new system challenge the mind to de-program and look at democracy in another light."

"Stephen Garvey's The Political Evaluator is a clear and evocative elucidation that - A) The Western Democratic Process is corrupt by definition and an alternative is needed; B) A changing of this process is not enough since the Western Democratic Process itself is corruptive, and when it changes it does so through its own systems which by definition and necessity cannot allow for its corruptive basis to be changed; C) From a theoretical standpoint the best alternative is Evaluative Democracy, a process of reasonableness in accord with the well-being of society as a whole. Garvey's outline, in The Political Evaluator, of how to systematize and implement this process of reasonableness is logical and viable, and adheres to the fundamental definitions of democracy; in practice its elements resemble present systems enough that most people can conceive what Evaluative Democracy is and how it would work.
The Political Evaluator presents a bold and very needed alternative to our present western socio-political climate. This book needs to be read not just by those who operate in the theoretical or philosophical, but by those who are living in and acting in this world we all inhabit."

"Democracy evaluated
Inexpressible Publications has just released its latest work, The Political Evaluator. In this book, Kimberley resident and author Stephen Garvey challenges readers to think outside of the box and to allow the 'unforced force of the better [or more reasonable] argument to prevail', to quote from Habermas. Centered on a series of lectures by Peter Thompson, this book promises a lively, diverse and thorough dialogue on the very base of democracy."
